No Ray of Hope for the A's

The A's season continues to spiral out of control, after another blowout loss on Monday night.  Oakland is winless on their current road trip, and has been outscored 47-13 in those four losses.  Monday's feeble effort was a 13-4 blowout at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Sean Gallagher was the latest pitcher to get lit up.  He gave up six runs in the first inning, and was taking a shower before the third inning was over.  Gio Gonzalez wasn't much better in relief.  He was knocked around for four runs in a little over three innings of work.

In a season that started out with so much optimism, nothing has gone right for Oakland.  They have the third worst record in baseball, and already find themselves nine games out of first place in the lowly A.L. West.  Unfortunately for the A's, it doesn't appear to be getting better any time soon.  The team is decimated by injuries.  The young pitchers are rattled and the bats remain quiet.

Josh Outman will look to stop the bleeding Tuesday, when the A's play the Rays in game two of the four game series.
