In early November, the Pirates exercised their $14.5 million option on McCutchen.
After the 2018 season, he is slated to hit unrestricted free agency.
McCutchen turned 31 years old in October.

Last season, he hit .279 with 28 home runs and 88 RBI.
He was an All-Star five straight seasons from 2011 to 2015, and was named National League MVP in 2013.
