Sharks Have Split Fan Loyalties With Warriors, Raptors in NBA Finals

When Game 6 of the NBA Finals tips off Thursday night at Oracle Arena, the Sharks will be a bit split in their rooting interests.

Ontario-born Logan Couture has made it known he's rooting for the Toronto Raptors and not the Warriors, while defenseman (and pending free agent) Erik Karlsson was at Games 3 and 4 at Oracle Arena last week, rocking a Jonas Jerebko jersey. Karlsson sat with Couture at Game 4.

Marcus Sorensen is also pulling for Jerebko -- a fellow Swede -- and the Warriors. He probably hopes his predictions carry more weight than Paul Pierce.

Evander Kane has been on the Warriors' bandwagon since 2012. But as Golden State has fallen into a three-games-to-two deficit in the best-of-seven series, Kane has had some divided loyalties.

Former Sharks forward Joel Ward, who played in San Jose for three seasons from 2015 to 2018, has had no such trouble.

The Raptors can make Couture and Ward very happy Thursday night. Toronto needs to win one more game to win its first NBA title in a quarter-century. The Warriors can force a decisive Game 7 with a win Thursday, after trailing three-games-to-one in the best-of-seven series.

Whether they're rooting for the Raptors or Warriors, that's something the current Sharks know pretty well.
