Steve Kerr Tweets Liverpool Support After Crazy Champions League Comeback

Does Steve Kerr think of himself a Scouser?

The Warriors coach tweeted Liverpool's anthem of "You'll Never Walk Alone" after the Reds' stunning 4-0 win vs. Spanish giants Barcelona in Tuesday's Champions League Semi-final.

Liverpool trailed 3-0 after a Lionel Messi masterclass at Barcelona's Camp Nou in the first leg last Wednesday. The English Premier League side missed two of their three leading scorers in Mohamed Salah (concussion) and Roberto Firmino (muscle injury), and looked dead in the water for Tuesday's reverse fixture at Anfield.

But much like a jaw-dropping comeback on the ice that Kerr watched two weeks ago, Liverpool stormed back. Needing (at least) four goals to beat Barcelona on aggregate and advance to next month's Champions League Final in Madrid, the Reds scored took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of the match. In the second half, Liverpool scored three goals in a 25-minute span to take an aggregate lead.

Trent Alexander-Arnold took advantage of an out-of-position Barcelona defense off a corner kick, and back-up striker Divoc Origi sent Liverpool into the Final with his second goal of the contest.

Kerr appears to have supported Liverpool since at least the start of the season, tweeting an article about a Salah hat trick back in December.

It can't hurt that Kerr will have another super-team surpass his as the subject of choking jokes, either. In last year's Champions League Quarter-final against Roma, Barcelona took a 4-1 lead into the second leg in Rome. They were then shut out 3-0 in said second leg, missing out on the Champions League Semi-final thanks to the away goals tiebreaker. Liverpool is head and shoulders above that Roma squad, but jokes will almost certainly persist, just as the Warriors might never stop hearing "3-1" after blowing said lead in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And, in the ultimate twist? LeBron James, the leader of those Cavaliers, is a Liverpool part-owner.

Liverpool will play the winner of the other Semi-final between Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur on June 1. Kerr could be busy then, with the NBA Finals set to tip off two days prior on May 30. A flight to Madrid would be hard to swing if the Warriors are still playing then, but it seems like Kerr will be watching.
