Warriors Add Curry, May Swap For Stoudemire

Big congratulations, Golden State Warrior fans. You got your 2009 NBA Draft wish. Monta Ellis didn't get his wish, but you did.

The Warriors grabbed fan favorite selection Stephen Curry, the Davidson point guard with a rep as the best shooter in the draft. When the Warriors grabbed Curry at the seventh spot right before the Knicks could, the Madison Square Garden crowd howled with disappointment like they had all just dropped their iPhones in the toilet.  It was awesome.

Don Nelson broke his promise to Monta Ellis that the Dubs would not draft a point guard to compete for Ellis' role.

But then again, don't be so sure -- the Oakland Tribune's Marcus Thompson is reporting that the Warriors are finalizing the details of a trade for Amare Stoudemire. Stephen Curry could be a part of that package. As of early Thursday evening, the Warriors were working on a contract extension for Stoudemire to complete the trade. Per Thompson's scoop, the Warriors would give up their seventh selection (Curry), Andres Biedrins, Kelenna Azubuike, Brandan Wright, and Marco Belinelli.

That whole deal could fall apart in the next 24 hours. And we don't know for sure if Curry would be included. But these are some spirited and aggressive moves the Warriors are making, and this is probably the most exciting day to be a Warrior fan since that one time in 2007 when we pantsed the Dallas Mavericks.

Believe it.
