A new app from Alameda County Public Works allows motorists to report potholes directly to the agency from their smartphones.
The “Mobile Citizen” app works on Android or Apple devices. It lets users submit photos of potholes, graffiti, illegal dumping and other such requests for service directly to the county.
The free app includes a GPS function so the location is mapped automatically. It can be downloaded via the iTunes or Google Play stores. There’s also a link on Alameda County’s mobile apps website.
“The best thing about this system is the person who puts in the request gets an immediate confirmation that we’ve received it,” said Public Works’ Rick Ruiz. Users will receive another notification once the service request they’ve submitted has been completed.
Residents can continue to submit requests for service online and/or report a problem by calling (510) 670-5500 or by sending an email to e-noticeMaintenance@acpwa.org.
Last year, Oakland city leaders started actively encouraging residents to report potholes, graffiti and other such “quality-of-life” issues via the SeeClickFix app.
