Holographic Art Is Now as Simple as Light Painting With the iPad

The London arm of Japanese ad firm Dentsu has released a video showing us a new kind of "light painting" using the iPad that could very well inspire a new way of incorporating special effects into indie filmmaking.

The innovation, which came as a result of a pairing of Dentsu and BERG, involves using "long camera exposures to record the iPad moving through space in order to make a stop motion film of 3D light forms."

While some might argue that similar effects are available via CGI, this quick and dirty iPad solution presents a distinctly ghostly effect that is unique unto itself. You can see more images of iPad light painting here.
