Business Users Aren't Happy With Apple

Apple hasn't updated its office suite significantly since 2009 and its business users aren't happy, according to a report.

ZDNet reported that unnamed sources said that Apple has placed most of its iWork development team to work on Pages, Numbers and Keynote for iOS -- projects that receive regular updates while iWork for OS X seems largely ignored.

Most of the reporting revolves around unnamed sources, but the gist of it is that some Mac users are abandoning iWork because of the "second-class citizenship" and performance lag. So, is Apple just walking away from iWork because its plan is to place all its eggs in one iOS basket?

Apple should be working on a new release of iWork that's slick and attractive otherwise it's ceding its marketshare to Microsoft. (Although the iWork pricetag, $60, is much more attractive than Office, $220.) It's true that the desktop market is declining, but not so fast that a tech company can ignore it completely, otherwise Microsoft would already be walking away.
