Fox may have led the charge for networks to change their Hulu habits.
The home of "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" is embracing the web after all but on its own terms.
Fox announced it will stream its new show the "New Girl" on iTunes and Hulu for free before the show even hits the network's air.
It's a clever way for Fox to gadge audience interest and get early feedback on the show that stars Hollywood veteran Zooey Deschanel.
But after the free window closes, Fox will go back to posting shows, including the "New Girl," after eight days.
The free shows will be available until the show's network debut on Sept. 28.
