Whipt Makes Hip-Hop Cookies

Local puts musical twist on confections

New York may have invented the black and white cookie, but the Bay Area has invented the black and white hip-hop cookie.

Whipt Baked Goods is carving out a local niche for sweet treats that pay tribute to rap artists and classic albums. The biggest hit so far is an edible rendition of the famous black and white third eye man logo from Oakland's Hieroglyphics. The cookie is made with the use of top local ingredients, including Straus cream and Guittard chocolate.

The next Whipt hip-hop bake sale takes place on September 22 at the Beatdown, a family-friendly monthly music and food event with DJs at SoMa StrEat Food Park (428 11th Street).
