Naomi Watts Steps Out Solo After Split From Liev Schreiber

The Hollywood couple had been together for 11 years

Naomi Watts was spotted walking her dog in New York City Monday evening shortly after news broke that she and longtime love Liev Schreiber called it quits after 11 years together. The "King Kong" star looked casual in cuffed jeans and a red and white striped shirt, which she paired with a pair of Vans shoes. Watts kept her head low as she made her way through the NYC streets.

"Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple," the couple said in a statement to E! News Monday. "It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship."

The former pair added, "While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy."

Though the breakup might come as a surprise to many, a source tells E! News that it was "a long time coming." But they're both going to remain geographically close to each other so they can raise their two children together. "They'll still be good friends and co-parents," the source said.

Adding to the surprise of the split was the fact that these two have been promoting their project "The Bleeder" together during the Toronto International Film Festival. Watts and Schreiber were spotted holding hands on the red carpet, looking as happy as usual.
