Lady Gaga reached a digital milestone by being the first person on Twitter to reach 10 million followers

Lady Gaga has been the most popular Twitterer in the world for some time, but the pop icon reached a new milestone by becoming the first person to hit 10 million followers.

"10MillionMonsters!" Gaga tweeted when she hit the number Sunday night. "I'm speechless, we did it! Its an illness how I love you. Leaving London smiling."

Mother Monster was on her way from the United Kingdom after doing some press, as she revealed in her popular Twitter account. She also tweeted a picture of herself in color surrounded by paparazzi in black and white.

And her number of followers isn't the first digital record Lady Gaga has broken. She reached one billion views on YouTube earlier this year, according to The Washington Post.

In March, Gaga stopped by Google's offices in California and praised its employees for their "amazing minds."

Fellow pop sensation Justin Bieber comes in second in the Twittersphere with more than 9.6 million followers, according to MediaBistro.
