Two overnight suspect searches kept police busy in two East Bay cities.

In Richmond, police said Todd Gillard, 26, barricaded himself inside an apartment at Ells Street and Bayview Avenue on Monday at 11 p.m.. Police say Gillard was wanted for attempted murder in connection with a shooting near Hilltop Mall in February. Police said Gillard was a parolee on electronic surveillance, but he cut off his ankle monitor. Police had been looking for him, ever since.

They arrested him Wednesday about 5 a.m.

And in Oakland, police set up a perimeter after several suspects fled from a violent carjacking about 2 a.m.. The suspects were believed to be armed.

Officers searched for several hours in the area of High Street and Santa Rita Street, but found nothing. The search was called of shortly before 6 a.m.
