An Oakland carjacking suspect turned out to be a 13-year-old boy, officers discovered after the driver crashed while trying to evade a police pursuit.

Investigators said the driver of a Honda was carjacked near Ninth and Alice streets before noon Friday. Police spotted the car a few blocks away and chased it nearly two miles to Adeline Street, where officers used a patrol car to nudge the speeding car and forcing the driver to lose control.

The suspect then crashed into a parked car and rolled over. The young driver was rushed to Children's Hospital, where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
