All Lanes on Highway 101 Scheduled to Close on Sunday for Repairs

Both directions of Highway 101 will be closed from Sunday at 9:30 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.

Southbound will be closed from Milbrae Avenue in Milbrae to Poplar Avenue in San Mateo. Northbound will be closed from Anza Boulevard to Broadway in Burlingame.

Crews will be restringing the overhead power cables onto the temporary high voltage tower during the closure, authorities said.

At around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, a Caltrans contractor struck a high voltage tower causing live high-tension PG&E power lines to fall across the lanes of Highway 101 in Burlingame, according to the California Department of Transportation.

While most lanes reopened at around 4:30 p.m., two lanes closed at 5:27 p.m. between Peninsula Avenue and Broadway and its uncertain when they will reopen, CHP officials said.

The northbound Highway 101 Anza Boulevard exit and both northbound and southbound exits to Broadway remain closed Saturday evening.
