All lanes reopened Friday on the eastbound 92 connector to U.S. Highway 101 north near the San Mateo Bridge, two hours after a big-rig fire had shut it down, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Sig-Alert was canceled shortly after noon, about two hours after the accident was reported.
UPS Driver Chris Penn told NBC Bay Area by phone, while stuck in the commute, that he had tried to take the San Mateo Bridge because of an earlier accident.
But that plan didn't work, as he acknowledged his backup was backed up.
"I'm just here watching Netflix," he said, saying he had been stuck in traffic for at least 90 minutes.
While Penn was watching movies, other commuters could be seen getting out of their cars and playing baseball.
