Firefighters battled a 250-acre brush fire Tuesday on the Camp Parks Reserve Forces Training Area in Dublin near the Santa Rita Jail, not far from the Interstate 580-680 interchange.
Cal Fire was assisting U.S. military firefighters to get the fire out. Alameda County, Camp Parks Fire and San Ramon Valley Fire were also on scene, fire officials said.
The NBC Bay Area chopper showed crews setting a fire line along the dry grasses along Dougherty Road just north of the Camp Parks Army base and the Santa Rita jail.
The fire, reported around 11:30 a.m., was only affecting vegetation, a Cal spokesperson said. Crews contained the fire by about 3 p.m.
The city of Dublin tweeted 2 p.m. that Tassajara Road was closed between Quarry Lane and Fallon Road because of the fire. They also tweeted that no homes or schools are being evacuated at this time.
A drone was spotted over the area of the fire, according to Alameda County Fire.
Temperatures were hot on Tuesday, reaching 96 degrees by 1:30 p.m. prompting the first Spare the Air alert of the summer.
