Cal Student Knocked Off Bike, Robbed

A University of California at Berkeley student was knocked off his bicycle and robbed early Thursday morning, according to university police.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was riding his bicycle on the 2400 block of Durant Avenue around 5 a.m. when a male suspect jumped out at him, knocking him to the ground, police said.

The suspect demanded the victim's property and fled after the victim complied. He was last seen running east on Durant Avenue, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the fall and was treated at the scene by the Berkeley Fire Department.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

He was described as a black man, between 20 and 30 years old, with a medium complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
