A San Leandro man is suing a production company for injuries he said he got working on the set of the film "Chasing Maverics."

Erik Hattan hurt his hip, back, and ankle when he fell on the stairs on a bank of portable toilets, which gave way during filming in South San Francisco on Oct. 25, 2011, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Hattan told the paper that Iron Cross Productions let employees use the stairs even though they were broken.

    The company hasn't commented.

"Chasing Mavericks" stars Gerard Butler and Elizabeth Shue. It is about a young surfer chasing monster waves at Mavericks Surf Contest near Half Moon Bay.
