Coast Guard Calls Off Search for Missing Fisherman

The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing fisherman, who is believed to have gone overboard.

At 2:16 p.m. the Coast Guard received a report of a boat adrift in the delta with no one aboard. The engine was off, but the keys were still in the ignition. After running the vessel's registration, officials were able to contact the man's wife who confirmed he had gone fishing alone earlier that day.

Rescuers searched the area, up to 46 nautical miles, and for more than seven hours, but found no body. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's marine unit resumed the search today at 8 a.m with the assistance of divers.
