This morning, CHP officers are investigating high speed chase with deadly consequences.

Officers say a teenage driver was thrown from his car after leading police on a pursuit that started on Oakland city streets, wound its way to northbound I-880, and ended with a crash at the 29th Avenue exit.

Officers say they noticed the 19-year-old man driving erratically at around 1:00 a.m. near the intersection of International Boulevard & 55th Avenue.

When they tried to pull him over, the driver reportedly started speeding and blowing through stop lights.

The driver made his way onto northbound I-880 where he eventually crashed on the 29th Avenue off-ramp.

The off-ramp will be closed until around 6:30 this morning, while officers investigate the crash.
