Shooting in San Francisco Leaves Man Dead, Woman Injured

San Francisco police are investigating a double shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured in the city's Potrero Hill neighborhood Thursday night.

The shooting was reported at about 7:50 p.m. near 23rd and Arkansas streets, according to Officer Gordon Shyy.

Officers found a man and a woman, both in their 20s, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to San Francisco General Hospital where the man died. The woman suffered gunshot wounds to her arm and leg and is expected to survive, Shyy said.

A large crowd gathered at the shooting scene and additional officers, who had to use pepper spray, were called to keep the crowd back, Shyy said. An officer was injured during the incident and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
