Fleet Week has returned to the Bay Area in full force.
Thousands attended the Fleet Week activities, which started with the Parade of Ships making its way under the Golden Gate Bridge Friday morning along the Marina Green and arrived at the San Francisco piers.
Several ships from the United States Coast Guard, the United States Navy and Royal Canadian Navy participated in the parade, as did San Francisco Fire Department boats.
The ships hosted public tours along the Embarcadero on Saturday and Sunday.
The Navy's Blue Angels also held a show Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the waterfront.
The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946, and some of the original techniques are still used in today's shows — and they are still leaving audience members awestruck.
"I thought it was pretty awesome just how like they were so close together ... It's amazing how precise they are," Stephen Mueller said. "It's pretty cool."
Other weekend Fleet Week events include band concerts, military displays, exhibits, fireworks and the commission of the USS America. It was a triumphant return after the show was canceled last year because government funding was cut off.
