Jason Dahl Elementary Honors 9/11 Namesake

    Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl was remembered today during ceremonies at two of his former schools in the south bay. NBC Bay Area's Marianne Favro reports from San Jose State University.

    One of the Bay Area victims of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 was San Jose's Capt. Jason Dahl.

    Dahl was the pilot of Flight 93 which crashed into the a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11 ten years ago.  Flight 93 was bound for SFO out of Newark, NJ.

    Hillsdale Elementary School in San Jose renamed itself Jason M. Dahl Elementary School in 2002. In honor of its namesake, the students and teachers hosted a special event Tuesday.

    Members of Dahl's family attended the event that includes songs, speeches and a rose planting ceremony of a rose named "Flight 91 Rose."

    The event was not open to the public.

    Dahl attended then-Hillsdale when he was a child.
