Leland High School Vice Principal Arrested on Sex Charge Out on Bail

Leland vice principal arrested on sex charge is out of custody.

A Leland High School vice principal arrested Thursday on a sex charge was out of custody Friday and isn't expected to be charged or appear in court until June, according to public records.

Joseph Reghitto, 32, vice principal of activities, posted $100,000 bond and has left Santa Clara County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for June 16.

San Jose police arrested Reghitto at Leland High on suspicion of having unlawful sexual content with a minor -- a student -- in September. That report came to police on Wednesday, the day before Reghitto's arrest.

NBC Bay Area, which reported the story first, tried to reach Reghitto at home and by phone with no success. On Thursday, Reghitto declined the opportunity for a jailhouse interview.

At least one parent told NBC Bay Area that both she and her daughter liked Reghitto and had no problem with him.

A retired principal will be taking Reghitto's place for now, according to the San Jose Unified School District.
