Son Killed, Father Rescued in Blaze in Blackhawk Home

A 19-year-old man is dead and his father is hospitalized after a fire ripped through their home in the Blackhawk development in Danville early Wednesday morning.

Flames trapped the man inside a home on Deer Meadow Drive. Firefighters rescued the his father from the single-family home earlier overnight and airlifted him to a Santa Clara County hospital. He is expected to survive.

It took firefighters about an hour to control the blaze, which burned mostly on the second floor of the home. Damage to the home is estimated at $2 million.
