It’s a curious day when the words “Mazel Tov Cocktail” begin to trend on Twitter, and Merriam-Webster jumps into the fun by sounding off with a “No, we have no idea” what the term means.
The hashtag #MazelTovCocktail was born after Donald Trump surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes went on CNN Sunday night, and mistakenly referred to a Molotov cocktail shown in a Jay Z and Kanye West video as a “Mazel Tov cocktail.”
Hughes was trying to defend Trump’s verbal attack on Hillary Clinton supporters Jay Z and Beyonce, when Trump criticized the singers’ language. Jay Z and Beyonce performed on Friday in Cleveland at a 'Get Out The Vote' concert for Clinton.
Mazel Tov means good luck or congratulations in Hebrew. A Molotov cocktail is an explosive usually made from a bottle filled with flammable liquid.
It's probably safe to say that Hughes not wishing Clinton good luck.
