One Alzheimer's Patient Found, One Still Missing

Two men with Alzheimer's disease went misssing this week.

The search for two missing Bay Area men with Alzheimer's disease has two very different outcomes - so far.

First and foremost, a man from the East Bay is still missing.

Hayward police are asking for the public's help in locating an 85-year-old man who walked away from the Arcadian Residential Community on Mohr Drive in Hayward Monday around 5 p.m.

Kato Toshio suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease among other non-life threatening medical conditions.  Although he was last seen in Hayward, he has family in Union City and is familiar with that area.

Police said Toshio walked away from the care facility one time in the past but was located within an hour.

Toshio is a 5' 6"Japanese man who weighs 135 pounds with black hair and black eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown plaid shirt and grey sweat pants with a blue stripe. His photo is at the top of this article.

A second man who was missing out of San Francisco has been found and is safe back home with his family, according to police. 

Police found Jose Luis Ayerdis, 82, unharmed. He disappeared after going for a walk Monday as well.
