Man Hospitalized for Smoke Inhalation After San Jose House Fire

A man was hospitalized after a one-alarm fire at a San Jose home Sunday afternoon, a police captain said.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the 400 block of North Seventh Street shortly before 2 p.m., San Jose fire Capt. Peter Caponio said.

Crews arrived to find the fire burning in an upstairs bedroom above the garage in the single-family residence, he said.

The blaze was under control by about 2:30 p.m., according to Caponio.

A man suffering from serious smoke inhalation was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center but Caponio did not have an update on his condition.

Caponio could not confirm if the man suffered burns in the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

There were three other residents at the home at the time of the fire and no one was displaced, he said.

The blaze did not threaten any other structures, Caponio said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
