    Police in Livermore late Thursday responded to an apparent standoff with a barricaded subject.

    Officers during the response asked people to avoid the area of East Avenue, between Maple and Jensen streets.

    Witnesses in the area said an entire street was blocked off and some homes were evacuated near Livermore High School.

    Police at about 6:35 p.m. announced East Avenue was reopened for traffic.
