Police: Man Shot in South San Jose

San Jose police began investigating a nonfatal shooting early Monday, after a man was taken to the hospital suffering one gunshot wound.

Sgt. Heather Randol said police received a call at 2:54 a.m. about the shooting in the 5100 block of Snow Drive in South San Jose.  Crime scene tape and police cars still circled the small apartment complex later Monday morning, and a tow truck took away a gold Lexus on the street.

The 30-something man was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Neighbor Julio Basulto heard the popping of gunfire.

"Is it real?" he said, recalling what he was thinking when he heard the shots. "Yeah, they were."

Basulto is upset that his neighborhood seems to be getting more rough.

"I"d really like to move, he said. "It gets a little nasty sometimes."
