Rep. Barbara Lee wants the feds to keep its hands off Oakland's marijuana dispensaries.
Congresswoman Barbara Lee wants the federal Justice Department to back off.
The Oakland congresswoman last week introduced a bill that would prohibit federal prosecutors from employing their most-used weapon against California medical marijuana dispensaries, according to reports.
Lee's bill would bar federal prosecutors from using asset forfeiture proceedings against medical marijuana dispensaries. That tactic has been used to shut eight dispensaries in San Francisco, and is currently being used against Harborside Health Center in Oakland.
Lee's bill has seven co-sponsors.
