San Jose voters will have the chance to overturn the city's strict new rules on medical cannabis dispensaries.
Just as soon as the City Council makes the choice as to when.
San Jose has tough new rules on medical marijuana shops. The new rules prohibit the stores in much of the city and require all marijuana to be produced and processed on-site.
This means most of the city's 80 or so clubs will have to close shortly, and the stock available at dispensaries will change drastically, San Jose Inside noted.
Enough signatures were collected by marijuana advocates to overturn these rules. The possibility of overturning the rules will now go to the voters... at some point.
The City Council on Tuesday delayed a decision as to when the voters will get a chance to vote on the ballot initiative. That call could come next week, according to KLIV.
The council could call a special election, put the question on the 2016 ballot, or "accept the initiative as is," the radio station reported.

Sensible San Jose, which sponsored the voter push, is looking to ease the rules that, for now, prohibit marijuana dispensaries from getting too close to daycare centers, schools, and other "sensitive use" places, Inside reported.
