A Bay Area man with a beef against Chicago's mayor is behind bars for allegedly making death threats against the Windy City leader.
Christopher Fox, 39, of San Jose, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of making a telephone threat against a public official. He allegedly left a message on the mayor's voicemail that he was going to shoot and kill the him.
Fox is being held in the Santa Clara County, Calif., Jail on $1 million bond. Chicago is seeking to extradite Fox.
The jail did not know if he had an attorney. WGN-TV in Chicago says Fox's mother told the station her son was upset over a comment Mayor Richard M. Daley made last week.
At a news conference, Daley joked about putting a rifle up the "butt" of a reporter who questioned the mayor's antigun policies.
