San Jose Police Name Suspect in Tuesday's Bank Robbery

San Jose police announced Wednesday that the man they are looking for in connection with a Tuesday morning bank robbery is Alex Ryan Wells, 25.

Police responded to reports of a robbery at the Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union at 140 E. San Fernando Street, police said.

Wells, a transient with no known address, reportedly entered the bank, gave the teller a note and demanded money. He left the credit union with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No weapon was seen but the credit union teller gave the suspect money because "that's what they're trained to do," police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Police would not reveal the contents of the note but said that robberies occur by force or fear, implying that the note was threatening.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot toward East San Fernando Street. He was described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes, police said.

Wells is also suspected in two additional robberies, one in Capitola on April 4, the other in Santa Cruz on April 6, police said.
