Santa Clara 'Church Man' Murdered

Luis Enrique Tavara, 62, was found dead on Thursday.

Santa Clara police are investigating the murder of "The Church Man," a resident known in the community for regularly attending church and always carrying a Bible with him.

Luis Enrique Tavara, 62, was found bleeding in the 3400 block of Lafayette Street around 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, police said.

Santa Clara firefighters responded to administer CPR, but Tavara was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later.

Police are investigating his death as a homicide.
