Series of Vandalism Attacks Puts Sunnyvale Neighborhood on Alert

A Sunnyvale neighborhood is on alert following a series of vandalism attacks targeting cars and property.

Residents in the area of Santa Rosa Street are angry after about 30 acts of vandalism were reported in one night. The vandalism include paint being splattered on fences and cars, according to residents.

"This is just part of a long line of things that have been happening on this block for the past year," said Russell Van Scoy, who added tire slashing, cars being keyed and tire slashing to the neighborhood attacks.

Neighbor Bob Morrison said the ongoing acts of vandalism are taking an emotional toll, making the usually peaceful neighborhood feel like a "war zone."

Julian Cerna is also bewildered by the ongoing vandalism.

"We're like a little community here," Cerna said. "And to see this vandalism done in our neighborhood -- you know, it really hurts."

Sunnyvale Public Safety is investigating the vandalism.
