A suspect shot by a Fairfield police officer Monday night has now died.
Investigators say an officer was following up on an investigation when he got involved in a violent struggle with the suspect, in the doorway of a home on Gold Coast Drive.
The officer called for backup, but shot the suspect before units arrived.
The officer is a 16-year veteran of the force.
He is now on administrative leave pending an investigation
