San Jose firefighters are investigating a pair of suspicious fires just around the corner from one another.

Both happened at the same apartment complex early Tuesday morning near Highway 85 and Blossom Hill Road.

The first happened on Spinnaker Walkway.

Then, a short time later, another fire was set on Coy Drive.

In both cases, garbage cans were set on fire before flames spread to adjacent buildings.

But, firefighters were able to put out the flames before any permanent damage was done.

17 people were temporarily displaced as a result of the fires.
