Report: Ship Hunting for Missing Jet Detects “Pulse”

A Chinese ship hunting for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet has detected a "pulse" signal in the Indian Ocean, China's state news agencies CCTV and Xinhua said Saturday, but Australian and U.S. officials could not verify the pulses are connected to the missing flight, NBC News reported. The ship detected signals with a frequency of 37.5 kHz per second, CCTV said in a tweet. That frequency is currently the international standard frequency for the underwater locator beacon on a plane's "black box." Chief Coordinator of the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston also said the reported pulses were consistent with the Boeing 777’s black box, but that there was no confirmation it came from the missing plane.
