Raiders RB Bush to Miss 4 Weeks

You'll have to wipe that post-win smirk off your face, Raider Nation. Terrible news from Jerry McDonald's Oakland Tribune Raiders blog, where McDonald reports that running back Michael Bush's wrist fracture will keep him out for a month or more.

That means the Raiders will be without last year's leading rusher until week four, Oct. 3 against the Houston Texans.

Realize this is not an official report from a team doctor. The Raiders lowered the cones of silence on injuries last week and refuse to give any more injury reports.

But Michael Bush did disclose on his own Twitter page that he suffered a Bennett's fracture. He also twitpic'd a photo of himself going in for the wrist surgery on Tuesday.

They make you wear a shower cap for wrist surgery? Who runs this hospital, Ruth Buzzi?

McDonald discussed the Bennett's fracture condition with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Schwartz, team doctor for Hofstra University and the Arena Football New Jersey Dragons. "A time span of four to six weeks following surgery would be a 'best case scenario," McDonald wrote, adding that Dr. Schwartz "conceded he was speaking in general terms and did not know the specifics of Bush’s injury."

The Raiders still have a healthy Darren McFadden, but may look to add another available veteran. As McDonald notes, Justin Fargas is currently available.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who thinks Bush twitters very eloquently on the hell of injured thumbs.
