On Tuesday, the Cavs shipped Kyrie Irving to the Celtics.
That happened because on July 7, the point guard requested a trade.
As he looked for a partner, new Cavs GM Koby Altman called the Warriors to discuss Klay Thompson's availability, according to ESPN's Marc Spears.

More specifically -- as Spears writes -- Altman called the "uninterested Warriors."
Remember when the Pacers contacted Golden State when they were shopping Paul George?
Klay has two more years on his contract before he is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in July 2019.

He will make $17,826,150 next season and $18,988,725 in 2018-19.
Perhaps teams are thinking that Warriors ownership will look to trade Klay to avoid paying massive luxury tax bills in the future.

Who knows what will happen over the next two years, but based on what Klay has said recently, he doesn't sound like a guy who wants to leave the Bay Area.
"It's so much more to being part of a team and being part of something special," he told Marcus Thompson during the championship parade in June. "You can build a legacy … The thing with basketball these days, there's a lot of individuality with stats, numbers, who's the greatest, he's a better player than him, he put up this many points.
"But Steve (Kerr) helped me a lot with that. He said nobody is going to remember how many points you put up. They are going to remember how many championships you win. This right here is what it's about."
