Yahoo, Facebook Suspend Patent Fight

Sources: No money to change hands

While Yahoo! searches for a new CEO, whoever it is just got some potentially very good news: The patent fight with rival Facebook may be coming to a peaceful detente.

According to Kara Swisher at AllThingsD, the two dot com giants have decided to make nice over the long-running patent fight, and in the process will - instead of fighting - work together on advertising deals.

The AllThingsD report goes on to say that no money will actually change hands when it comes to the patent dispute, and that Yahoo! and Facebook plan to officially announce the deal later today.

This is good news to whomever is going to take over the reins at Yahoo!, struggling to get out from under several tough spots - recent layoffs, stagnant stock price, lack of direction - in addition to its legal morass.  Now, perhaps, Yahoo! can snag some of Facebook's post-IPO momentum and turn its eyeballs into cash.
