From London's foggy side streets to the sunny Nevada desert, you could be riding in style at this year's Burning Man.

It won't be a hallucination when you see a bright red, double-decker bus rolling through the desert making scheduled stops at points around Black Rock City this year at Burning Man.

A group of UK "burners" have made plans, dubbed the "Nowhere Omnibus," to bring a London Routemaster to the annual bacchanal in Nevada's Black Rock desert.

And this is no magical mystery tour -- the group has declared their intent to stick to circular route, run on an hourly timetable, and have both a driver and a conductor in traditional British fashion.

There will even be real signs at the seven posted stops which ring the "Esplanade" or inner ring of the circular city, along with a stop at the statuesque man which serves as the center of the town.

As Becks on the Living in the O blog points out, "AC Transit directors would do well to look to the Nowhere Omnibus plan when thinking about service cuts."

Needless to say, even with a driver and conductor whacked out on pharmaceutical grade hallucinogens, it would still like prove more reliable than San Francisco's Muni. Photo by Jon Curnow.

Jackson West would actually go to Burning Man just for this.
