There seems to be no end in sight for the cloud of construction at Golden Gate Park's Music Concourse and plaza. The Recreation and Park Department was set to finish a series of construction and restoration projects totaling over $10 mill this summer with the completion of the park's 108-year-old bandshell. Waterlogged and disintegrating, the thing is in much worse shape than anticipated, and won't be finished until next summer -- when the department will then pour $1.3 mill in fixing its fountains. Luckily there's now some altruistic black netting in place to catch the bandshell's falling stones (um, yay?), so the structure is fully functional for performance purposes. It just doesn't look so hot (to say the least).
