Kronos Quartet Needs a Kick

SF string ensemble raises funds for research

San Francisco's Kronos Quartet is turning to the public to fuel future projects.

The lively string ensemble hopes to raise $25,000 via a Kickstarter initiative for the David Harrington Research & Development Fund. It has already made more than 50 projects possible for Kronos, but after a 40th anniversary season, new money is needed. If they meet this new goal, it will be used to pay for two new arrangements and a future collaboration with David Charke (with whom the group has worked in the past).

Donation incentives include Kronos stickers and pins, mp3s of new works and special mix CDs from Harrington. Premiums at the highest levels include the chance to check out a private rehearsal or have dinner with the group.
