The Best Holiday Fairs

If you're not in the holiday spirit yet, we suggest you start hitting up the bevy of holiday fairs coming to town, several as soon as tonight.

Thursday, December 2:
Jackson Square Annual Holiday Walk: Head to this charming historic ‘hood for a free walk through the area’s galleries, eateries, and shops like Carrots and La Boutique for holiday-themed festivities, discounts, trunk shows, and free wine, cheese, and the like, from 5-8 p.m.

Sip, Snack, & Shop on Chestnut: Get your holiday shopping squared away while you stroll the Marina’s main avenue, snack on grub from 20 different restaurants, sip on drinks courtesy of 26 alcohol sponsors, and indulge in one-night discounts at Heritage Row, Gap, Jack’s, and others, from 6-9 p.m. Buy your $30 tickets, which benefit the Marina Merchants Association, here.

The Indie Craft Fundraiser for 826 Valencia: This holiday craft fair to benefit Dave Eggers’ writing center in the Mission includes fourteen local crafters, live tunes, and fancy cocktails at Hotel Rex from 6-9 p.m.

Micro-Entrepreneur Holiday Bazaar: From 3-7 p.m. at 607 Front Street, micro-finance organizations Renaissance Center and Working Solutions will host a holiday fair packed with local designers and small businesses selling their goods.

Friday, December 3:
Hayes Valley Holiday Party: This twentieth annual holiday block party in Hayes Valley will include a toy drive in conjunction with the S.F. Fire Department and numerous parties at the shops and galleries along the bustling Hayes Street strip from 6-9 p.m.

Lower Haight Art Walk: Head to the Lower Haight to wander in and out of the open galleries and shops, check out the festive entries for the ‘hoods window decoration contest, and listen to Christmas carolers.

Saturday, December 4:
Noise Pop Holiday Shop: For the second year in a row this holiday fair rolls into town (this time from noon to 5 p.m. at The Verdi Club) with great gifts from 35 local designers and artists, five La Cocina food vendors, a bar stocked with fare from local chefs, live tunes by Hiwatter and Big Tree, a raffle courtesy of Superdry clothing, and even a Hipster Holiday Workshop courtesy of GoGo Craft. Whew.

Winter Wonderland Craft Bazaar: From 1-9 p.m. in the Christmas light-studded back garden at Urban Bazaar (1371 Ninth Avenue), shop a wide selection of gifts from your favorite S.F. Etsy vendors. In addition to shopping, visitors can nibble on free baked goods and indulge in winter-appropriate warm cocktails from 6-9 p.m.

Sunday, December 5:
Holiday Capsule: The first indoor Capsule shopping event will involve over 70 designers (including Taxi CDC and our new favorites Kana jewelers) at 1131 Mission Street. Music, refreshments, and photo booth fun will be provided. Admission is free, but RSVP is required.

Friday, December 10:
Mission Holiday Block Party: This third annual event goes from 5-10 p.m. and features a bunch of in-store parties (BellJar and Candystore Collective included), art openings, discounts, and general merriment in the Mission.

Sunday, December 12:
Holiday Space Market: Head to Space Gallery from 6 p.m. to midnight for this cupcake-fueled shopping party featuring jewelers Found Made New and Mariele Ivy, May and June clothing, and others. Admission is free.

Sunday, December 19:
Indie Holiday Bazaar: The third Indie Bazaar at Brief Space in the Metreon will feature a host of indie designers and artists ready to stuff your stockings.
