A police officer fatally shot a naked man armed with a rifle inside a home that had been set on fire in Vallejo early this morning, police said.
Officers responded at 1:28 a.m. to a home in the 2500 block of Alameda Drive on a report that two men were arguing and trying to burn their house down, according to police.
The men had also apparently broken windows of several cars in front of the home, police said. The officers arrived to find a naked man running into the home.
When they confronted a naked man inside, a second naked man appeared from the back of the house armed with a rifle, police said.
The man pressed the barrel of the rifle against an officer's stomach, prompting another officer to fire his service weapon at the man, striking him, according to police.
As the officers took the two men into custody, they realized the house was on fire and took them outside.
Other officers followed a blood trail to the backyard of the home where they found a recently slaughtered animal, police said.

Firefighters responded and put out the fire, which had engulfed the home. The 29-year-old man who was shot by police was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His name is not yet being released.
The other man taken into custody, a 28-year-old whose name is also not yet being released, was taken to a hospital for observation.
He was not injured and was later booked into jail, police said. Investigators believe the two men were under the influence of some kind of controlled substance and had shut power off to the home and set it on fire.
The rifle, which was taken into custody, was loaded with a round in the chamber, according to police. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, as is standard department procedure while the case is investigated by police and the Solano County District Attorney's Office.
