Three Detained After Marijuana Theft, Assault in Unincorporated Sonoma County

Three people were detained in an assault over marijuana Saturday afternoon in the unincorporated Sonoma County community of Forestville, a spokesman for the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were dispatched at about 3 p.m. to the 5700 block of state Highway 116 on a report of an argument, Sgt. Spencer Crum said. The initial caller said one person was hitting a vehicle with a crowbar.

After the call, three male suspects fled the area in a vehicle, which may not have been the one struck with the crowbar.

A short time later a California Highway Patrol officer conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle at High School and Occidental roads in Sebastopol, Crum said.

Inside the vehicle, the officer found freshly cut marijuana and detained the three suspects.

Law enforcement authorities then went back to the 5700 block of Highway 116 where they met with the victim who said the suspects stole his marijuana and assaulted him.

He suffered minor injuries that did not require him to go to the hospital, Crum said. Deputies were in the process of interviewing the suspects.
