Two young mountain lions decided to go on a stroll in downtown Half Moon Bay Sunday evening.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office tweeted out photos of the pair, and said that they were not aggressive and βseemed to be enjoying the heat from the SMCSO patrol cars.β
The photos showed the big cats hanging out near bushes as well as under sheriff's patrol cars. Sheriff's officials said the incident took place around 7 p.m.
βPlease use caution anytime you see mountain lions,β they added.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife also monitored the mountain lions through the evening.
Two mountain lion cubs were spotted Monday on the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail between Poplar Beach and the Ritz Carlton hotel, San Mateo County officials said.
State Department of Fish and Wildlife officials asked the public to stay away from the trail for the immediate future.
